[PORT ARTHUR INTEREST] antique English rosewood writing box with fitted interior housing original inkwells with gilt crown lids, early to mid 19th century, purported to have been used at the infamous penal settlement. Accompanied by a hand-written memorandum from the Civil Commandant at Port Arthur dated June 1865 accepting the resignation of the Second Clerk at Port Arthur. This document was found in the writing box. The Box 16.5cm high, 50cm wide, 25.5cm deep.
