A SHORTAGE OF POLICE IN TASMANIA: February 1843 manuscript letter from the Police Magistrate Charles Schaw, at Richmond Police Office, to the Chief Police Officer, M. Forster in Hobart. Schaw is responding to the instructions he has received to "station two Constables at The Narrows". To do so, he explains, he has had to move the two who were placed at "Eatons". "Your last orders to me were to send all hands to the bush where they now are....send me up a few more Constables
