Ottoman silver cutlery set with English Sheffield steel blades, housed in a fitted canteen, made for the last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire ABDUL HAMID II and stamped with the tughra of the Sultan. This box of cutlery was once part of a much larger service that was auctioned off in the 1920s after the tumult of the sacking of the palace of Topkapi and the instatement of the Turkish Republic, (46 pieces), the canteen 44cm wide, 1745 grams silver weight (not including pieces with steel blades).
