An East India Company hand-written directive dated 21 April 1817, addressed to Captain G. H. Tweedy, Commanding the ship "Union". Tweedy is instructed to transport 32 convicts to Mauritius "under the sentence of Transportation for life". In an unusual P.S. Tweedy is warned "Bussuntah (?) Convict is a very dangerous character and must be strictly watched."
