2 · SWIMMING: An award fob in gold (9ct, 8.54g) engraved "H.U." to the shield on the obverse; the reverse engraved "MANLY S[WIMMING] CLUB CARNIVAL - 100 Yds Navy Champ. - H. URRY. 4.1.08". Manly Swimming Club was established in 1905.

9 · Cartoonist SAMUEL WELLS observes various sports and sportsmen: Patterson v Hawkes Tennis Championship 1922, "Getting the barracker ready for the football season"; the "Collingwood v Geelong Juniors"; the role of mud in improving Victoria's chances against South Australia; "Umpires Preparatory School"; Geelong Football Club personalities of the 1920s. Original pen and ink illustrations for Melbourne newspapers, (6 items); the largest 35.5 x 25cm.

10 · SHOOTING: RIFLE CLUB AWARD:an award fob (with badge-pin fixture) in gold (9ct, 10.0g) with attractive rifles and target to obverse; engraved verso "S.E.D.R.C. UNION 1923 - Championship of Rifle - Won by A.E.M. FORSTER - Presented by G. WARD." Mr Alfred Edwin Moore Forster, 63, died in the Naracoorte Hospital on November 22, 1936. He was a good rifle shot, and had been captain, secretary, and president of the Naracoorte Rifle Club at different periods.

11 · ATHLETICS: prize medal in gold (9ct, 6.12g) with the winner's initials "R.F.U." engraved to the front; the obverse engraved "Club Handicap - 120 yds - won by R.F. URRY - 1925".

12 · FOOTBALL: Various 1920s awards in gold (9ct, 14+g total.), engraved "VICTORIA F.C. Runners Up 1925 - T. HENDERSON"; "E.S.S.F.A. All Age - Won by J. LYONS - 1927"; and, "T.F.C. Premiers 1928 - A.W. ENGLEMAN". (3 items).

13 · ULVERSTONE CUP TASMANIA (RUNNING): EPBM trophy inscribed 'Ulverstone Cup - E.J. Ride (Edwin James Ride) - 1925', height with wooden plinth 47cm, together with EPNS trophy inscribed 'Ulverstone Cup - 1926 - Won by - E.J. Ride', height 31cm. (2 items)

14 · STAWELL GIFT RUNNING RACE: Trophy, likely EPNS, inscribed 'Stawell Jubilee 1927 - 400 Yds Hcp - Won by E.J. Ride (Edwin James Ride)', height 28cm including plinth, plus three small c. 1918 sterling silver race medallions, the three of them 18 grams total. The Stawell Gift, dating back to 1878, is known for its unusual handicapping system. (4 items)

15 · A collection remainder, in very mixed condition; including two Don Bradman flicker books; a Lindsay Hassett flicker book; a souvenir of the MCC dated 1935; a Complimentary Smoke Night programme for Canon E.S. Hughes (1928); the programme for Keith Miller's State Funeral 2004; several children's books incl. early Beatrix Potter and a dilapidated 1850 edition of David Copperfield;, etc.

16 · ATHLETICS: PUBLIC SCHOOLS AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, Life Member NSW fob in gold (9ct; 8.6g; 24.5mm), by W. Kerr, scroll and ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'R.Browne./1934.'. Nearly uncirculated.

17 · "THE COMET" - YOUNG AUSTRALIA'S PREMIER WEEKLY: The complete run, from Vol.1 No.1 (April 9th, 1936) to the final edition, Vol.1 No.18 (August 7, 1936), together with the twelve sheetlets of 6 "Stars of Australian Sport" which accompanied 12 editions, plus two Rugby League team inserts and a Duncan Gray insert which accompanied 3 editions, an example of "The Comet" Picture Album No.1, which could be ordered for 1/- and a full page advertisement introducing the new magazine.....

18 · SOFTBALL: Hillerich & Bradsby No. 52 Special Services U.S. 'Soft-Ball' bat, length 85cm, c. 1940s. The Special Services were the entertainment branches of the United States Military during the Second World War, responsible for providing recreational opportunities for servicemen and women.

19 · Various items, including a 1941 original signed photograph of "Kid Young", the Australian featherweight champion, various part-sets of cigarette and other trade cards (mainly football and cricket), two Argus 1953 Football Portraits (John Kennedy and Alan Ruthven), the 1967 Richmond Premiership edition of Footy Week, and several 1970s to 1990s Finals Series Football Records, etc., all in leather briefcase.

20 · A scrapbook, circa 1947-51, with many full page colour pics of football, cricket, athletics, boxing, horse racing and other sports, with quite a few well-annotated by the collector.

23 · SHOOTING: RIFLE & GUN CLUB AWARDS: a 1964 Australian Gun Club Championship award badge in gold and enamel (9ct, 7.85g) by K.G. Luke; an undated Rifle Club award in gold (9ct, 2.45gms) circa 1910; also, a sterling silver award fob (6.2gms) to B.Hay from the L.S.R.C. made by Kenwood. (3 items).

24 · Large format linen flags: SOVIET RUSSIA, SWEDEN and UNITED NATIONS, souvenired from a 1980's-era international sporting event. (3). Each approx. 1.2 x 2.2m.

25 · AUTOGRAPHS: An interesting collection assembled by an airline hostess, mainly in the 1980s and 90s, including John Landy, John Newcombe, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Kay Cottee, Jim Courier, Allan Border, Marion Jones, Ian Botham, John Bertrand, Betty Cuthbert, and others. The collection also includes other celebrities, including Bryce Courtney, Don Burrows, Johnny Farnham, Ray Charles, Ken Done, Petula Clark, Jeffrey Archer, David Attenborough, and many others.

26 · A diverse range of collector cards (football, cricket, etc.), club song 45rpm recordings, badges, cloth patches, Football Records, a signed full-size Sherrin football, American baseball cards, etc. All in a large carton.

27 · VARIOUS TRADING CARDS: Noted 1992 VFL Club Colourgrams (4), various basketball cards, Select AAS Series, and several signed cards (Jason Dunstall (2), Phil Gilbert, Ben Allan, James Hird and a Tony Shaw Tribute card signed), etc.

28 · A Vijayanti hockey stick with applied fabric, signed by the 1998 Indian hockey team, who were competing in Australia, together with another hockey stick with many signatures illegible.

29 · WEG: Five cartoon prints with AFL, cricket, and Formula One themes, two of which framed and glazed, the largest 90 x 60cm.

31 · A quantity of NBA collector cards all in slip-in pages and in excellent condition; mainly 1992-95 period. (approx. 200).

32 · H.W. STEVENSON: Illustrated certificate, issued by the Billiard Association of Great Britain Ireland And The Colonies, proclaiming 'This is to Certify that H.W. Stevenson made a break of 582 with Ivory Balls on a Standard Billiard Table, on November 25 1898 in a game against E Diggle...', framed and glazed, 78 x 62cm overall, together with 1901 framed photograph of Stevenson, 78 x 59cm overall.

33 · H.W. STEVENSON: 12 x 7 x 7cm leather case embossed 'H.W.S.' on lid, with matching spaces for four liquor containers with metal caps inside, of which three present.

34 · H.W. STEVENSON: Hand-painted illuminated presentation certificate presented to Stevenson's wife to mark the occasion of Stevenson winning the Billiard Association Championship in Maidstone on January 5th 1901, with scores (Stevenson 9000 to his longtime rival Charles Dawson's 6406) and list of friends and admirers featured; framed and glazed, 68 x 56cm overall.

35 · H.W. STEVENSON: Three scrapbooks filled with clippings of original newspaper articles from throughout Stevenson's career, some authored by Stevenson himself as a correspondent, as well as telegrams (both to and from him), photographs, etc.

36 · H.W. STEVENSON: Sterling silver presentation cigarette box with timber lining, 19 x 6 x 9cm, engraved to the lid 'Presented By Thurston & Co Ltd To H.W. Stevenson For Making The English Records Break Of 354 Off The Red Ball & For Making On 5th May The Record Break Under The B.C.C. [Billiards Control Club] Rules Of 633 - 1909'. Weight: 675g incl. timber liner.

37 · H.W. STEVENSON: An archive of photographs (some signed), postcards, and articles pertaining to Stevenson, including of note two short typewritten memoirs signed by Stevenson titled 'Odd Games Around The World' and 'Billiards With The Grand Fleet', the latter beginning with the humorous line, 'Billiards afloat may sound a little improbable to those of my readers who have experienced...a table with a "list" to it...'.

38 · H.W. STEVENSON: Sterling silver trophy cup, height 36cm, approx. 1500 grams, with inscriptions '1st Prize - Snookers Pool Handicap - Played At Thurston's Hall, London - 29th Sept. 1918 - Won By H.W. Stevenson' and 'Dick Burge Memorial Cup - Presented By Geo: Robey Esq.'.

39 · H.W. STEVENSON: Sterling silver pocket cigar case, length 13cm, engraved to the lid 'C.L. to H.W.S. 15-7-20'. Weight: 86g.

40 · WALTER LINDRUM INTEREST: Framed large format photograph of Edward the Prince of Wales in military uniform. Note: This piece originally adorned Walter Lindrum's personal billiard room at his Albert Park property in Melbourne. 100 x 82cm overall

41 · On February 19, 1931, Walter Lindrum gave a billiards exhibition for the King and other members of the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace: An original photographic programme of the event (in a later frame), together with a copy of Lindrum's book, signed and dedicated by him in Melbourne, 1947. (2 items).

42 · WALTER LINDRUM: Four copies of his book, "Billiards and Snooker by Walter Lindrum" published by Tooheys Ltd., an original photograph of June Lindrum, Walter's second wife; a quantity of printed score sheets from Walter Lindrum's Pool Rooms at 317 Flinders Lane, Melbourne, and a quantity of newspaper cuttings about Lindrum.

43 · WALTER LINDRUM: original signature on the back of a 1942 real photo postcard of him in action; together with a copy of his book "Billiards and Snooker by Walter Lindrum" published by Tooheys. (2 items).

44 · WALTER LINDRUM: A signed and dedicated copy of his book, "To Malcolm Mitchell with all good wishes, Walter Lindrum, Nov.1942", accompanied by a set of 3 billiard balls in an original box from Alcock, Thomson & Taylor and two original boxes of "Monarch Tournament Chalk", all circa 1942.

48 · Nov.1922 original artwork by SAM WELLS (1885 - 1972) for the Melbourne Herald: a comprehensive visual presentation of the one-sided middle-weight championship fight between Charlie Ring and Alf "Smasher" Stewart, during which Stewart had his opponent on the mat "in 5 different positions..." Ink on paper, with pencil notations, overall 25.5 x 35.5cm.

49 · McBRIDE defeats JAMITO: Original artwork by Sam Wells, September 1922, telling the story of Benjamin Jamito Gan's first professional knock-out at the hands of Stanley McBride; pen & ink, overall 25.5 x 31.5cm.

50 · Feb.1923 original artwork by SAM WELLS (1885 - 1972) for the Melbourne Herald: "Billy Meeske (12-7) who defeated Dave Smith for the Heavyweight Wrestling Championship of Aussie last night at the Stadium in as many seconds as it requires a thief to lift 100 quid." 51 · A fine group of Sam Wells' original artworks for cartoons published in Melbourne Punch, the Sporting Globe and the Melbourne Herald: boxers (and wrestlers) depicted include Herb Haar, Albert Hertel, Alf Stewart, Charlie Ring, Bert Spargo, Bert McCarthy, Sid Godfrey, Harry Stone, Jimmy Semmens, Freddie Jacks, Jim Dale, Jerry Sullivan, Bud Ridley, Kid D'Silva, Johnny Kilbane, and others. 56 · 1938 3rd BRITISH EMPIRE GAMES IN SYDNEY, Bronze Winner's Medal "British Empire Games/Australia/1938", octagonal, 63 x 63mm. Very attractive and scarce.

57 · A VERY EARLY CRICKET BROADSIDE "CRICKET. On MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1798, a Match of Cricket, will be played On Tunbridge-Wells Common, between Mr. R. HOSKINS and Mr. DAY, (of Mayfield) For TEN POUNDS. The Wickets to be pitched at 10'Clock, and the Game played out. 65 · An original Vanity Fair chromo-lithograph of W. G. Grace published in the June 1877 edition, mounted together with an original autograph of the 'father of cricket'; overall 53 x 35cm.

66 · James Lillywhite's Cricketers' Annuals: 1879 (with "The Australian Twelve" photographic frontispiece), 1880 (Richard Daft's English Cricketers), 1881 (The Australian Eleven, 1880), 1883 (The Australian Team, 1882) and 1884 (The Surrey Eleven, 1883); complete and in the usual condition. 87 · The Australian Cricket Team 1905, real photo postcard by Broom, featuring the whole touring party in the cricket whites and baggy caps featuring the Australian coat-of-arms; the reverse of the card with a printed fixture listing the team's engagements from May 4th to September 11th.
